Assessment is for Learning

78

In Wellpark, assessment is an ongoing process. Staff observe the children during play and when participating in learning experiences with staff and other children.

Each month our staff devise a variety of learning intentions to conicide with The Curriculum for Excellence and the children’s interests at that time. As the children participate in activities, the outcomes of these observations allow us to assess the children’s development and inform our next steps for each individual child. Parents are invited to view these observations at any time.

As learning intentions are regularly shared during activities, our children are also encouraged to become confident at assessing their own performance through discussions with both staff and other children. Discussions with other children during tasks is also useful in allowing peer assessment to take place.
